Just a few thoughts on my blog tonight.

I've never shared this website with anyone on my blog. Don't know why. But I'm rectifying that on this post today. I found her a couple of years ago when she commented on my blog. I went back and read every single post she ever wrote and just about split a gut laughing. She lives in Utah and is a mental health counselor but the most irreverent woman I've ever met...and FUNNY!!! I warn you this woman can be a bit bawdy sometimes. Sometimes??? She is absolutely hilarious, at least to me. She gave up blogging for a while in March and gave us another post in September, but you've really got to visit and laugh. This is her blog site. She gets comments in the hundreds almost all the time. I wish she'd come back but I guess there are so many nuts in Utah that she's too busy counseling. ;-)

Hubby is a party animal. Well, more of a social butterfly and gregarious. I'm not. I'm pretty much a let's-eat-and-leave-type chick. It's really hard to party with ibuprofen being my main "snack" lately!

I'll mention my "thrifty" friend again. She's the only person I know who doesn't get rid of a car until it qualifies for the Guinness Book of World Records for the most mileage on a car. Sigh. That subject came up recently since they have almost 300,000 miles on her hubby's car. I've told her to get rid of it but she says it's still okay to keep around just in case one of the other cars goes out. I just can't get my head around that!

Darling white, pink and flowery bedroom.

Love this color combination.

What a gorgeous bracelet!

Pretty crocheted roses.

Gorgeous white formal home.

Lovely vignette in a forest.

Now that's a bicycle I wouldn't mind having. Cute seat cover and basket to hold groceries.

What is it about stone steps that attract us so? Very quaint and adorable.

Yes, I do love this sofa and cushions also.

A gorgeous bouquet of roses so full there must be a gajillion petals in there!

Talk about living in the water! ;-)

A bouquet vignette I couldn't NOT show you.

Pink does it every time for me. Isn't it lovely?

I looooove this cuff. I think I'll try to make one. When I wear mine, I always get attention and question on where I got it. I tell them I make them and they're quite easy to make.

This is a modern-type of homespun room. I like it because of the colors and it looks comfy even if it trends towards early American. Adorable.

Tidbits:
Your tuition dollars at work: The University of Alabama offers an "Intro to Zombies" course. Puzzling as to WHY!

Rambling 11/25/2012

Once in a while I'll see photos on the internet when a "celebrity" has something to say they always flash the peace sign or say Peace. That's becoming a bit old in my opinion. I lived in the San Francisco area during the 70s and I have to say I don't think I'd like to repeat that era. Get a grip, people, just say nice things like: thank you, good-bye, nice to see you or something more appropriate. You all look like fools to those of us in the real world who lived through it. Also, saying "super" or "cooool/kewel" is ridiculous, especially coming from the older generation. Use proper grammar, people!

I read a news article a few weeks ago that said the military has become "less sexist, homophobic and racist". Having had many friends in the military, I do have to say hubs' told me he didn't particularly want to shower with women. He's such a sexist. ;-) I agreed with that one! We also had friends in the military who were different races and they never, ever were treated any differently by us than anyone else. Where do some of these people get these ideas? They are not the norm. When you're in the military, you watch out for each other. I'm sick of hearing that. There was a man who drove my hubby to work every single day when we first moved to Oceanside, Ca., and he didn't take a penny from us. We were poor and I was pregnant. My hubby loved that man and still mentions him in reverence because he was so kind. I've never, ever seen my husband denigrate another race of people. Never!

Is there anyone out there that is as sick of the sign "Live, Love and Laugh" as I am? Give it a break people. I don't need a sign to tell me that. I do it automatically.

Our great granddaughter is now almost 3 years old. She's a pistol, let me tell you! A few weeks ago she stopped her daycare class with her dancing. She told everyone to watch her dance—gangnam-style. The class next door even came over to watch her when they heard the laughter. She created quite a stir. I think she's going to be a ham. Everyone actually DID stop to watch her. My granddaughter and I laughed ourselves silly over that one. I think she's liking being the center of attention. When the new baby arrives, it's gonna be a shock to her! :-)

Where has niceness and decency gone? I believe this last election campaign was the smuttiest I've ever seen in my entire life. Ooooh, I can hardly wait for the next one.

Just a beautiful living room.

Aaaahhhhh, what a beautiful entry.

Pretty way to display roses.

Cozy reading nook.

Quaint patio area.

Darling little birdcage or terrarium.

Another bedroom with unusual, but gorgeous, colors.

Cute gift tags to make.

Another lovely living room. Love that the homeowner has blankets or throws strewn around. I do that in my family room and living room also for the comfort of my guests as I like a cool house and sometimes they get cold sitting here.

Beautiful vignette.

More delightful colors!

This has to be in another country. Small, efficient and cute!

I like how the canopy over the bed isn't the traditional kind.

Oh, for a chandelier in my kitchen. Just isn't feasible though according to Love Bunny. We'll see. ;-)

Love this patio. Stunning.

A Dinner Party

Many years ago, Love Bunny, the kids, my parents and I were having lunch at a restaurant in Monterey, California. (The important thing to remember in this story is that my mother was fanatical about cleanliness.) The salads came and we began eating and my mother noticed a worm or some insect in her salad. She was horrified. And complained. Usually, when this happens a restaurant will offer that dinner free to the customer. They didn't; they asked if they could bring her another salad. We all stared at them as if they were crazy. Would you want another salad from that kitchen? Well, my mother didn't. I believe we got up and left. I can't remember about the bill, but I thought a reduction in the bill would have been appropriate. As far as we knew, this was a classy restaurant. Most of them are in Monterey or Carmel. But no, no reduction at all in the bill. We never went there again.

Fast forward forty-five years later.

A friend, her daughter, son-in-law and new grandson (their first grandchild) came over for dinner several days ago. I love this woman. She's the absolute best kind of friend anyone could have. Loves me no matter what. I'm also a great cook. Her expertise lies elsewhere.

I prepared an early dinner of Angus roast beef, mashed potatoes, shoepeg corn, candied carrots, fresh-from-our-garden salad, french bread slathered with butter and homemade ice cream, made earlier.

I told her earlier they didn't get the good china, the fancy silverware or crystal glasses because 1.) They are considered family. 2.) I was too lazy that day and getting ready for surgery in a few days with at least an appointment with doctors every single day that week and had 3 different events that day. 3.) She can live without the frou-frou! Not a problem with her at all. ;-) The new baby took precedence that day. I absolutely love babies and I smooched him quite a lot. Here's this little photo of him looking up at his Dada.

We sat down to dinner and the young father filled his salad plate and proceeded to spear some lettuce and tomato with his fork and said, "There's a bug in my salad." I'll never forget the look of horror on his face. I almost laughed but didn't. He was so stricken. Hubs had picked and washed the lettuce and assured me he had done each leaf. I just grabbed the plate and said, "Well, I don't think Dada will want any salad." Also, I skipped salad that day and I'm a big salad lover. I apologized and later called my friend and asked if Dada had recuperated from the shock. We laughed. I hope he wasn't too traumatized to see the little green wiggling up at him. I'm wondering if he'll ever eat at our house again if the opportunity presents itself.

Sunny, bright, white dining area. That canopy is quite the thing also.

Cozy and bright pink room and accessories.

Exquisitely lovely blue table setting.

Yep, love that birdcage also!

Birdie singing his song.

What a cute table setting with different kids of cake plates and cloches on a vintage, rustic table.

This room looks familiar and I like the fabrics of course.

Ooooh, let me walk this pathway.

Cute idea to keep the kids and hubs clean while doing garden chores and not dirtying up your kitchen or baths.

Vintage baskets and rose strewn quilts.

I like this idea of soft lights on the porch or patio at night. Easily done, too.

Another quaint cottage and garden for you.

Lovely, but soon the windows will be covered with ivy and the owners won't be able to see out.

I could definitely live in this room happily. I would, however, paint the walls a delicate pink and put pink and white striped satin curtains on the windows.

For a week in the country, hubs could entice me if he rented this cabin. Yep!
