Mother's Day Spring

Our Mother's Day yesterday was a rather rainy, dreary one, but I did manage to get out and try my hand at videoing and grabbing some closeups of our apple tree. The apple blossoms were gorgeous.

I stayed home from church again because my foot hurts very badly, especially to walk on it. I finally got a photo of it Friday with a lot of contortions on my part to photograph that part of my anatomy, but it is really too gruesome to show here. However, I have an appointment with my podiatrist tomorrow. I'm hoping he declares it "healing well."

I also posted a video yesterday of my quaking aspen trees. And if you go back to see it on the previous posts, you'll see two of them. I loaded one from youtube and one directly from my computer on to blogger. I like the larger one but I'm still experimenting to see if I can get it to load larger from my computer as I don't like all the ads that come up with the youtube one. Go check it out if you are viewing this post because there are 2 from yesterday and let me know which one you like best. My preference is larger ones.

But Love Bunny attended church and brought me home a beautiful flower the Young Men and Young Women got for each mother. Plus my son sent me an Edible Arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries and apples. They were delicious but I'm trying my best to lose some of this extra weight and gave half of them to a friend.

I got some very closeups of our apple blossoms.

There are few things prettier than apple blossoms or roses.

This is the exquisite rose hubs brought home from church for me. It actually had a strong fragrance to it. I love the colors of it.

Don't you just love that center? It looks like red velvet.

The color flows from a creamy white to pink to red on the tips.

Random Thoughts:

People who choose not to have children are selfish. I'm not including those who don't have children because they can't; I mean the ones who think they are "saving the planet" or just think children "are too much trouble" or "interfere with their lives." Those are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves for being so selfish. Children are a blessing from our Lord, and if you're a Christian we're commanded to go forth and multiply. I can't think of any other blessing that compares to children.

As I said, I'm trying to lose weight I've accumulated over the past several years, but truly I try not to anything without a saturated fat close at hand.

The Dew Is Still on the Roses

This morning I went out to the rose garden while the dew was still on the roses and snipped a bunch for another bouquet in the house today. I also seemed to have brought a few bugs in with me. But I thought I'd share them with you along with some random thoughts.

Aren't they just lovely? Nothing can make the human heart soar like beautiful roses fresh from the garden.

And here is where they went in the house today.

Vulgarity is often the first step down the road to indulgence. To be vulgar is to give offense to good taste or refined feelings. It is only a step from vulgarity to obscenity.

Can someone tell me where the terms yada, yada, yada and blah, blah, blah came from? Terrible grammar. I usually say "and so forth" but never, ever blah or yada.

Though it would be comforting to think that galaxies revolve around me; I am NOT the center of the universe. Hubby told me this once a very long time ago and it absolutely stunned me! I am NOT kidding. It was a very real eye opener. I wonder if he takes delight in bursting my bubbles. Hmmmmmm.....

I saw this ad on a news site the other day and just stared in wonder at it. Truthfully, I'm not sure I "get" it!

Little Lamp for Pink Saturday 7/17/2010

Happy pink saturday again. Please visit with Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for a list of all the participants today. I also apologize because we were out in the woods camping last weekend and therefore I didn't get the chance to visit 2 bloggers new to Pink Saturday. Sorry!
~*~

When out shopping a couple of weeks ago I spotted this darling little outdoor lamp that I could NOT pass up. I decided to buy it and froufrou it up
.

My favorite little pink chicks, a "nest", pink paper roses, pink garland, pink ribbon, white netting around the bottom with faux pearl trim. Everything a froufrou girl could want!

You have to look very closely to see the ruffled netting around its bottom but it is there. It's going in our bedroom.

It was always destined for this spot. Here are photos of it with different lighting on when I did the photoshoot. It's hanging on the same hook as the pompom; I just tucked it in between so it would hang below it.

I need some more things on this wall but I just haven't found what I want on there yet. I'll have to go shopping through the house and see what I can find. I'm on an austerity program (self-imposed!) to not spend money. We'll see how long that will last. I am determined however. *Sigh*...

It is on Love Bunny's side of the bed.

And I found these the other day while shopping—little pink ice cream spoons. Aren't they adorable? I just couldn't pass them up.

I do believe this clematis is going to make it finally. It's been struggling for about 4 years now but I really think it's going to be a great addition to the back very soon.

And would you look at those gorgeous blooms in purple?!

The miniature gardenias are fragrance-ing the air back there.

Finally the carpet roses are taking off. We wanted to give them a hyper-chance before we do anything around them. I think we'll lay weed fabric along that fence.

And hubs brought me in a bouquet of some roses. They're just about finished for this year.

Beautiful!

Random Thoughts:

We have filtered water on our sink and I bought a bottle of water the other day because I wanted a sturdy bottle. I was reading it today and on the side is this: is it just us or do clouds get a bad rap? while we admit they're not as great to have around on a beach day, as say the sun, clouds are unsung heroes because they contain nature's purest source of water. meanwhile, spring water comes from the ground and contains random stuff and whatever else the animals that swim in it leave behind. that's why we copied our white puffy friends by creating smartwater. it's vapor distilled so it is in its purest original state. it's a difference you can taste...unless, of course, you have no taste buds (than you're on your own), but we don't stop there. we one-up the clouds by adding electrolytes just in case you do decide to hit the beach. unfortunately, we can't fix the whole men in thongs thing. [Lack of capitalization is on the bottle also. I didn't do it!]

Eventual foreclosure awaits us all. I'll probably receive mine before you do, but yours is in the mail. Nevertheless, until the postman comes, be happy. There is no other rational response but happiness. Despair is a foolish squandering of precious time.

I don't trust those people with a plan, those who believe they know how to make a better world, which seems to always involve telling other people what they should do and how they should think. Think Hitler.

Soliloquy. One has to wonder about the people of this earth who put man/woman below all the other species. There are some who advocate ridding the earth of man/woman. This is preposterous. There is no other species above man. Animals were put here for our enjoyment, not the other way around. (Contrary to what cats might think!) But to believe this I guess you would have to read the Scriptures and understand them. Man can't possibly destroy the earth. Read sentence before the last one again. My family loves animals-cats, dogs, etc. but they wouldn't want to leave this earth to them. In the next life you will definitely have your animals. Read that other sentence again.

Cloche Party 7/16/2010

Join Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for a cloche party.
~*~

Now, I don't participate in a lot of parties or mêmes in the internet mainly because I don't have much time. But I participate when I can. This is one of those times because I respect Marty and love cloche vignettes. It also gives me a chance to practice my photography skills with my Canon—one of the loves of my life.

This is some faux candy under this cloche.

This is one of a trio of stands on which I've placed some paper roses I've collected over the years.

I threw in some little faux bird eggs also.

More faux pastries I've made on another of the trio of cake stands.

Another stand of the trio. On this one I placed a little box I made.

Random Thoughts:

How fortunate I've been to live long enough to recognize the subtle but undeniable fading of my youthful stamina and spryness. To heck with those poets who celebrate the beauty and the purity of dying young. In spite of everything I'd be grateful to survive to relish the sweet decrepitude of my eightieth year or even the delicious weakness of one whose birthday cake is ablaze with one hundred dangerous/flaming candles.

I'm not a genius by any stretch of MY imagination or anyone else's but I do understand the theory that explains the function of a bottle opener, why gravity makes it a bad idea to leap off a high building, and why running headlong into a brick wall will have little effect on the bricks.
*

I was at Subway recently sitting there eating a sandwich with hubby and a young woman employee came walking through the eating area. There was a napkin discarded on the floor and she walked right over it, not even picking it up. She had to have seen it. The place was not busy at all. I think that's a testament to the laziness of some of our youth today, maybe even a majority of them. They're much lazier than we were when we were young. Tables don't even get wiped at those places any more unless we ask them to wipe them. Sad statement on the future of our youth being handed so much and not having to work for it. That which is given to us/them is esteemed lightly. That's why my kids have worked since they were 15 years old. To this day they value and have an understanding of hard work.
