Easily a single of more ravishingly beautiful objects exhibited at the recent Maison et Objet in Paris is Lattice, a pendant light designed by Shanghai style studio Neri & Hu for London-primarily based furnishings brand De La Espada. The Babylon collection of 6 injection molded plastic items—pen and holder stapler scissors tape dispenser and alarm clock—is distinguished by faceted exterior forms that trace their inspiration to rock formations, of all items. Explained the designer, “We were looking for an distinct surface remedy that could elevate the series and tie all of the objects collectively. Through our research we came across inspiring images of rock strata, such as the The Wave, on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes in Arizona.”
